As the patrol and training manager for Gates Security, Mr. Uhrig is responsible for all uniformed armed patrol officers, uniformed unarmed Client Service Officers and plain-clothes off-duty police officers. Patrol division operations include 24-hour patrol and response services in Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica Canyon, Malibu and Thousand Oaks.
Through the training section, Mr. Uhrig oversees the development and instruction of training courses for firearms, batons, officer safety tactics, personal defense and legal aspects of private security. His office recruits, reviews and trains personnel to provide security services for:
• response to community disaster events such as the Malibu fires;
• security and traffic plans for large scale community events such as the Palisades Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks Show;
• community crime suppression and public safety assistance for association areas such as Mandeville Canyon, Los Angeles;
• access flow and event security for private events such as political functions, corporate parties or high-profile weddings.
Steve Uhrig has over 20 years in law enforcement, private security and training experience.
A veteran Marine, Mr. Uhrig has served in the Presidential Helicopter Squadron in support of President Ronald Reagan, his cabinet and many foreign dignitaries from 1981 to 1985.
Mr. Uhrig worked for the CIA as a special police officer and lead instructor. He served in the personal security branch, the office of training and education and was responsible for the development of the travel awareness program for traveling agents in foreign countries.
As a police officer for the Los Angeles Police Department; he created and developed community amateur radio surveillance units and served as part of the training cadre at the LAPD academy. He is a Distinguished Service Medal recipient and received a Los Angeles City Council commendation from Councilmember Nate Holden for his community work.
He served as an instructor for the San Bernardino Sheriff's Academy in the use of force, officer safety tactics and firearms.
He is a consultant to the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services and participated in the development of the baton training policy and standards. He is an expert martial arts instructor and continues to provide personal defense courses.
Mr. Uhrig serves as a member of the Pacific Palisades Americanism Parade Association Board. He has two teenage children and lives in Pacific Palisades. |
